Description

Small country house. Mid C18 with c.1800 extensions, re-fronted late C19. Red brick, ashlar dressings with chamfered ashlar quoins. 2 rendered stacks. Ashlar parapet and cornice. Ashlar plinth. Two and a half storeys, 3 bays. The single central bay slightly projects. Second floor ashlar sill band. Central four centred arched doorway 2 steps up with glazed double door and overlight, flanked by single part glazed narrow panels. Ashlar surround with moulded spandrels and entablature. Either side are single tripartite sashes. Above are 3 similar smaller sashes, the single central sash being smaller. Above are 3 similar smaller sashes following the same pattern. All windows have eared ashlar surrounds and dividing each light is a single ashlar mullion. The first floor windows have a small ashlar block under each mullion and at the outer corners. To the right and left, set back, are single storey single bay early C19 red brick wings with hipped slate roofs, dentil eaves and ashlar plinths. Each with single four centred arched Gothic glazing bar casements. Above left in the right wing is a single small glazing bar sash. (NCC/js)
