Description
House. Mid C18, remodelled early C19, with late C19 and C20 alterations. Red brick with painted ashlar dressings. Slate roof with 4 gable brick stacks. Chamfered plinth. Dentillated eaves. L-plan with later additions. 3 storey. South front, 3 bay, with central doorway reached up 3 steps, with glazed double doors and a moulded ashlar surround with brackets supporting a pediment. Either side are single tripartite glazing bar sashes with rusticated lintels with double keystones. Above 3 margin light sashes with similar lintels, and above again 3 smaller similar windows with similar lintels. West front has late C19, single storey gabled addition with 3 windows, and to the right a single glazing bar sash, above a similar sash with segment head to the left, and to the right a margin light sash. East front has slightly off-centre doorway with 6 panel door and to the right a 3 light cross casement with glazing bars. Above to the left a cross casement with metal glazing, and to the right a glazing bar sash. Above again a 2 light and a 3 light casement with metal glazing. Beyond to right a single storey service wing with a 3 light casement, attached to north a 3 metre high brick wall enclosing rear yard with lean-to out buildings. Wall with gabled coping and buttresses extends 75 metres along the roadside boundary and to south enclosing a large rectangular kitchen garden. Interior. Retains single flight and return stick baluster stair case plus panel doors and door surrounds. (NCC/js)
