Description
Farmhouse c1711, alterations c1910. Built for Sir T W Hunloke Bt. Brick with plain tile roofs, with brick coped gables and kneelers, plus 2 ridge and a single gable stack, L-plan, 2 storey plus attics. Brick plinth and dentillated eaves. Street front has central 2 light casement flanked by single 3 light casements, with similar window arrangement above, all these windows have segment heads. Above again a hipped dormer with 3 light casement. Garden front, facing south east has a projecting gabled wing to the left. A central doorway with original 6 petal door with overlight and to the right a 3 light plain sash, above a 2 light casement with another 2 light casement to the right, all with segment heads. Above again a hipped dormer with 2 light casement. Projecting side wall has blocked window on the ground floor and a 3 light glazing bar casement above. The gable wing has a large shallow bow window through 2 floors with above a small 2 light casement. Interior contains a very fine early C18 staircase with turned balusters, large inglenook, chamfered beams original doors and a corn bin in the attic. (NCC/js)
