Description

Wesleyan Chapel, now an Education Centre. 1782. Additions and alterations 1848, 1883 and late C20. Brick, rendered and colourwashed. Slate roof. Classical revival style. Ashlar plinth, sill and lintel bands, pedimented coped gable, corner pilasters. 2 storeys, 3 x 3 bays. Windows are glazing bar sashes, those to front ground floor and sides first floor with keystoned round heads. Front has central pair of doors with fanlight, flanked by single sashes. Above, 3 sashes. Each side has 3 sashes on each floor. Interior has matchboarded dado and moulded cornice. 5 foliate ceiling bosses. Winder stair to fretted, dentillated gallery on turned wooden posts. Rear additions 1848, 1883 and late C20 are not of special interest. (NCC/js)
