Description

House, C16, C17 and C18. Timber framed, brick cladding, rendered; steep pitched pantiled roof. Brick and rubble plinth, first floor band and cogged eaves at rear; coped gables, single ridge stack, one external gable stack. 2 storeys, 3 bays, L plan. South front has close-boarded and weather-stripped door in re-entrant angle, with curved brackets to pantiled hood; flanked to left by single glazing bar sash, to right by single fixed light; above, 2 glazing bar sashes. West gable has single glazing bar sash on each floor. East wing has 3 light casement and above, single glazing bar sash. South gable has single round-headed fixed light and above, C20 casement. Rear elevation has C20 fenestration. Interior, has extensive timber framing with arch braces, moulded span beams and fireplace bressummers; stud partitions; one C16 4 centred arched doorway, C17 principal rafter roof, gypsum floors. Internal evidence suggests the rectangular rear wing was built first, the east wing being added C17. (NCC/js)
