Description

Public house. Late C16, remodelled c1777, with C19 addition. Restored 1927 and late C20. Sham timber-framed front with rendered nogging and steep pitched slate roof with coped brick gable stack. Original close studding with rendered nogging and rubble plinth to right gable. Plinth. 2 storeys; 2-window range of C20 glazing bar casements. Below, central doorway with wooden hood, flanked to right by a C20 glazing bar casement and beyond, a doorway to a side passage. The front has the inscribed date 1777. To left, a single-storey lean-to addition with concrete tile roof and a C20 two-light glazing bar casement. Its right return has a single casement. Rear elevation rendered, with pantile roof. (EH)
