Description

Model farmhouse, c.1800. Brick, partly rendered and colourwashed. Adjoining cottages and stable similar. Hipped slate roofs. Plinth, moulded cornice, eaves and pediment, impost band. 2 side wall, 2 ridge and single gable stacks. 2 storeys, 1/3/1 bays wide. C-plan. windows are mostly C20 casements and some Gothic casements. Central farmhouse has to south projecting pedimented central bay with central parapeted porch with round headed opening. Flanked by single casements. Above, 3 casements. Beyond, rendered boundary walls with ashlar coping and 2 pairs of coped square piers with plinths and ball finials. 2 pairs C20 replica iron gates. Semi-circular iron fence and gate with fluted piers and ball finials. Rear elevation has full width hipped lean-to addition with C19 and C20 fenestration with segmental heads. Above, a central casement. Stable, to west, 2 storey, 3 bays, has cogged eaves. To south, single altered casement on each floor. To east, C20 sliding door and a casement. Above, central blocked door flanked by single altered casement. Cottage to east has to south, a casement on each floor. To east, central C20 door and above, to left, 2 blank openings. To right, a Gothic casement. West front has late C19 lean-to addition with C20 fenestration and, to left, a Gothic casement. Above, a casement and to right, 2 Gothic casements. Adjoining late C19 cottage, to north, has single ridge stack and to west, lean-to porch. Altered central doorway flanked by single Yorkshire sashes. North gable has a similar sash, all with segmental heads. East side has lean-to addition with single stack and segmental headed door and casement. Above, a Gothic casement. (NCC/js)
