Description

Model farm. Early C19. Brick with hipped and pyramidal slate roofs. Ashlar and brick dressings. 2 side wall and single ridge stacks. Single and 2 storeys. Symmetrical layout around rectangular crewyard, incorporating barn, pigeoncotes, stables and 2 cottages. Windows are casements and Yorkshire sashes with chamfered segmental headed openings. Crewyard north side has central barn with lower flanking wings. Central door flanked by 2 round breathers. Above, 5 similar breathers. Identical openings at rear. Each wing has a blocked barn door containing a stable door flanked by single casements. At rear, blocked barn door. Square pigeoncote to west has to west, a casement. To north, a casement on each floor. Pigeoncote to east has pigeonholes to south east, and to north, a casement on each floor. Crewyard west side has to left, square cottage with a casement and to right, C20 door and casement. Above, 2 casements. To its right, single storey shed has 4 round headed openings, altered to contain a casement and 3 doors. To right again, 2 storey stable with 3 casements flanked by single doors. To right again, a casement. Above, 3 sashes. Rear has, above, 3 casements. To right, lean-to addition with door and hatch in return angle. Cottage has to west, flat roofed C20 addition and above, a casement. To south, a C20 and a C19 casement. Crewyard east side has to left, 2 storey stable with 3 casements flanked by single stable doors. To its right, 2 casements. To right again, pigsty with 3 round headed openings. To their right, 3 similar altered openings containing 2 casements and door. East cottage has to west 2 casements on each floor. South side has door and casement. East side has lean-to outshut and to its right, large lean-to cowshed with asbestos cement roof. This building formed the Home Farm to Eastwood Hall. (NCC/js)
