Description
House. Mid C17 with C18 and C19 alterations. Brick, rendered, with C19 plain and patterned tile roof. Partial stone plinth, 3 ridge stacks. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Main west front has stone mullioned windows with C19 casements. West front has off-centre C20 close boarded door with moulded timber jambs and scrolled brackets to hood. To left 2 and to right, single 3 light windows with shutters. Above, 3 smaller mullioned windows. Rear elevation has to left C20 flat roofed addition, and to its right, a C20 casement. To right again, casement with segmental head and shutters, and to right again, small close boarded door. Above, 2 Yorkshire sashes with segmental heads, and to right, a leaded casement. North gable has to left a C20 casement and to right a leaded oriel window. Above, to left, a leaded casement. South gable has lean-to timber and plastic porch and above, to right, a casement. Adjoining C19 single storey outbuilding, brick, rendered, with pantile roof, has C20 casement and to right 2 close boarded doors. Interior refitted in 196Os. Roof said to be C17. This building has at various times since 1737 been an Inn, Post office and shop. Information from Local History study quoted by Owner. (NCC/js)
