Description

4 almshouses. 1852. For Frances Jane Longden. Brick. Steep pitched black plain and bullnose tile roofs. Ashlar dressings. Chamfered brick plinth. Half round brick eaves. 2 gable and single ridge stacks, rebuilt mid C20. 2 storeys, 4 bays. Windows are leaded mullioned casements. Gabled front has 2 gabled porches with four centred arched doorway and a casement in each side. Each flanked by single casements. Off-centre datestone inscribed "Almshouses erected by Frances Jane Longden 1852". Above, 4 steep pitched gabled cross-eaves dormers each with a mullioned casement. Gable to right has flat roofed single storey addition. Rear has continuous C20 lean-to addition. (NCC/js)
