Description

Stable block. Early C19. Yellow and red brick with hipped and gabled slate roofs. Coped pedimented gable, single rear wall stack. 2 storeys, 9 bays, central block with flanking wings. Windows are glazing bar casements and Yorkshire sashes. South front has central round headed opening containing single window flanked by single doors. Flanked by 2 windows. Beyond, to left, garage doors with timber lintels. To right, 2 round headed double carriage doors. Above, central square hatch flanked by single windows. Beyond, to left, by plank panel and to right by a hatch with pigeonholes. Above again, clock in pediment. Round bell turret with 4 timber columns, domed leaded roof and wind vane. To right, later C19 addition, brick with hipped slate roof, single storey, single bay. To south, a stable door with segmental head. Rear elevation has C19 lozenge patterned cast iron casement. Above, central block has 3 small casements with segmental heads. (NCC/js)
