Description
Manor house, now a house. Early C17. Service wing C18. Dressed stone with steep pitched slab tile roof. Stone plinth, coped gables with kneelers. Single ridge and single gable stacks. 2 storeys plus garrets, 5 bays. Single range with lower service wing to west. windows are mainly C20 leaded casements and chamfered mullioned casements with hood moulds. North front has C20 gabled rubble porch, flanked by single casements. To its right, 2 casements. Beyond, to right, service wing has late C19 wooden porch flanked by single casements. Above, to left, 3 casements. To right, C19 gabled dormer. Service wing has to rear, 2 casements. Rear elevation has to left, door and to its right, door flanked by single casements. 3 storey gabled stair tower with a casement on each floor, the lower two blocked. Beyond, a casement. Above, to left, 2 gabled dormers. To right, 3 casements. East gable has continuous ground floor hood mould. Each floor has a central casement. Interior has rebuilt dogleg stair and C19 secondary stair. Remains of C17 chamfered and C18 plain ashlar fireplaces. Double purlin principal rafter roof with struts, collars, wind braces and ridge piece. 2 chamfered spanned beams. (NCC/js)
