Description

Tennis pavilion. Late C18. Red brick and ashlar. Hipped slate roofs. 2 storeys, 3 bays, with a lower, slightly recessed 2 storey 2 bay wing to the left, and slightly recessed single storey single bay wing to the right. Set on a plinth with a 1st floor ashlar band. The projecting 3 bays have a moulded ashlar band over the 1st floor windows, an ashlar coped parpet and a pediment over the central bay. This bay has a glazing bar sash in a releiving arch which rises above the 1st floor window, and is flanked by single arched openings, that on the right has a glazing bar sash, the left one is blocked. In the left wing are 2 glazing bar sashes, with a single glazing bar sash in the right wing. The projecting bays have 3 smaller glazing bar sashes on the top floor. Most windows lack glazing and have damaged glazing bars. (NCC/js)
