Description

House and cottage, formerly single house. C17, altered C18. Varied history of extension and demolition, possibly having an earlier core. Dressed coursed rubble with ashlar quoins and concrete pantile roof. 2 rendered ridge stacks. Stone coped gables and kneelers. Set on a plinth. L-plan with extensions, 3 bays. Outer slightly projecting 2 storey plus attic gabled bays with central 2 storey single bay. Central doorway with part glazed double door and C17 ashlar surround, having a recessed panel above the door with depressed arch over. Above is a modillion cornice supporting a shaped hood. To the right is a single glazing bar French window with glazing bar overlight, to the left is a single glazing bar sash. Above are 3 glazing bar sashes. In the left attic is a 4-light glazing bar casement, in the right attic a 2-light glazing bar casement. The east side of 2 storeys and 5 bays has stone coped gables and kneelers and a pedimented centre with stone coping and kneelers, this is the gable end of a cross wing. There is a single right gable rendered red brick stack. Single C20 glazing bar French door with glazing bar overlight. To the left are 2 narrow glazing bar sashes. To the right are 2 glazing bar sashes. Above are 5 glazing bar sashes with a single casement in the pediment. 2 bays in from the right is an extension line. (NCC/js)
