Description

Bakery, now a house. 1862. By S.S. Teulon for the 10th Duke of St. Albans. Brick with elate roof. Ornate brick dressings. Dentillated string course and eaves. 3 transverse ridge stacks set diagonally. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Irregular L-plan. Windows are casements with brick mullions. South gable has to left, pointed door and to its right, triple casement in pointed recess. To right again, lower wing. Above, to left, 2 pigeonholes. East side has gabled wing to left with 2 casements. To right, 3 casements. Above, 4 casements of various sizes. West side has buttress to left and lean-to wing to right. Off-centre door flanked to left by 3 and to right by single casements. Above, 5 casements of various sizes. North gable has a 4 light casement on each floor, that above with stepped head. This building is a detached part of the outbuildings of Bestwood Lodge. (NCC/js)
