Description

Farm buildings. Late C18 with extensive alterations and additions mid C19. Possibly by George Gilbert Scott for John Manners-Sutton. Brick with gabled and pyramidal patterned and plain tile roofs, plus tile hanging and shingles. Blue brick diaper work and details, dentillated eaves, coped gables with kneelers. Single roof stack. Single and 2 storeys. 11 bays. H-plan. To west, late C18 barn forming wing. East front, 4 unequal bays, has an off-centre pair of barn doors with lattice panel above, and to right, a casement with segmental head. South gable has, above, a triple leaded light. Main range has to south off-centre carriage entry with strutted bressummer and shingled gable containing a C20 sash. To left, 2 mullioned iron casements with red and blue rubbed brick heads. Above, small louvred dormer. To right, square tower, 3 stages, with blue brick band, dentillated eaves, patterned tile pyramidal roof and wind vane. Segmental corbelled openings to south and west, with square corner pier. Second stage has to south a shouldered mullioned casement, and a similar casement to east. Timber framed third stage has quatrefoil panels with matchboard or shingle infill and octagonal panel for clock with gabled hood. To right, workshop range has continuous lean-to roof. 4 casements with segmental heads, pair of sliding doors, and to right, door with segmental head. Above, to left, a small dormer and to right a coped gable with a triple leaded light. Beyond, projecting 2 storey wing with tile hung wall to west with a casement and ,to right, a sliding door. Above, a central casement. East front has projecting single storey central bay with hipped gableted roof. To left, a casement, and to its right, small opening in blocked doorway. To right again, 2 C20 casements and above, 2 C19 casements. North gable has brick and stone external stair leading to plank door. Rear elevation has continuous C20 lean-to with off-centre door with segmental head, flanked by single iron casements. Above, 2 C20 gabled dormers. To west again, carriage entry, and to its right, C20 cartshed. To west again, stable block, C19, 2 storeys, 4 bays, with, to south, 4 stable doors, 4 C20 casements, and above, 4 pairs of breathers. Above again, 2 gabled dormers with trefoil openings, to west again, stable, C19, single storey, brick with dentillated eaves and patterned tile roof, 4 bays. to left, a pair of garage doors, and to right a stable door.
