Description

Manor house, c.1675 and C19. Brick, partly rendered, with steep pitched C20 pantile roof. Brick plinth, rendered, moulded first floor and eaves bands, patterned headers, dentillated eaves. 2 large shaped gables with kneelers. Paired off-centre ridge stack and 2 paired gable stacks, that to south external and corbelled. All stacks but one set diagonally, and with moulded bands. 2 storeys, 4 bays. To north, lower 2 storey service wing, C17, brick with pantile roof. To north again, C17 outbuilding, raised C19. Brick with pantile roof, 2 storeys, 3 bays. At rear, C19 wing, brick with pantile roof. Main east front has off-centre C19 rustic gabled porch with plain tile roof, containing recessed half-glazed C19 door with overlight. To left, 2 C19 mullioned and transomed casements; to right, a small casement and another mullioned and transomed casement. Above, 4 similar casements all with rendered lintels. Service wing, to right, has C19 recessed half-glazed door in chamfered reveal, with rendered lintel, flanked by single casements. Above, 2 different mullioned and transformed casements. Outbuilding to north has moulded first floor band and central blocked window with chamfered and rebated reveal. Flanked to left by door with rubbed brick head, and to right by stable door with timber lintel. Above, to left, remains of moulded brick pediment. Rear elevation has off-centre recessed door with rubbed brick head. To its left, single glazing bar sash with rubbed brick head and to left again, brick pilaster. To right, brick pilaster on plinth, and to right again, single glazing bar sash with rubbed brick head. Beyond, single round beaded niche. Above, remains of first floor band and 3 moulded pediments. Above again, 2 smaller glazing bar sashes, 2 blocked openings and 3 diaper work diamonds. Rendered south gable has to left a mullioned and transomed casement with rendered lintel. Interior has C19 straight stair with stick balusters and wreathed handrail. Lounge and drawing room have C19 moulded cornices and friezes. (NCC/js)
