Description
Public house now cottage. Late C17, early C18 and C19. Red brick. Part originally timber framed. Pantile roofs with 3 brick coped gables with kneelers. C18 single storey plus garret, 2 bay wing, with 2 storey, 2 bay wing to the right. To the left of the 2 storey wing is a single external stack and to the right is a similar triple stack, all red brick. The single storey wing has dentil eaves and the 2 storey wing a first floor dogtooth band. The left 3 bays are on a plinth. Doorway with part glazed door, to the left is a single Yorkshire sash, to the right a similar single sash and further right a blocked doorway. Above is a single similar sash. To the right, set back, is a single storey, 2 bay extension with evidence of a single wall plate and single posts to front and rear, now faced with C19 red brick. Doorway with wooden door and single Yorkshire sash to the right. To the right is a further single bay, now forming a lean-to with felt roof and single casement. To the rear of the left wing is a lean-to extension. The left/road gable has a single tripartite Yorkshire sash under a segmental arch with a single Yorkshire sash above. Interior contains some beams, with a large chamfered beam in the left wing, which also has evidence of a bressumer fireplace. (NCC/js)
