Description

Gatehouse and kennels, now house. Mid C18. Altered by John Carr, c.1798. Ashlar and stone, rendered, with gabled and lean-to slate roofs. Ashlar plinth and dressings, large central ridge stack. Moulded cornice, eaves band and pediment. 2 storey pedimented block with coped flanking walls. 3/3/3 bays. West front has moulded keystoned central arch with 4 giant diced pilasters and 3 round headed glazing bar sashes. Above, 3 glazing bar casements. Flanking boundary walls have each 3 round headed dummy sashes, corner pilasters and fluted vase finials. Beyond, to right, rendered boundary wall with pair of gatepiers with bands, paterae and square domed caps. Pair of late C19 timber gates. Rear elevation has blocked archway and 3 glazing bar sashes. Above, central casement flanked by single round windows. Above again, round window in pediment. (NCC/js)
