Description

House. Early C18. Red brick. Hipped pantile roof with 2 large red brick stacks. Dentil eaves. Set on a plinth with a first floor band breaking forward over the windows. 2 storeys plus attic and basement, 5 bays. Central doorway up 4 steps, 6 fielded panel door and traceried fanlight in wide rusticated brick surround. Either side are 2 glazing bar sashes, with 5 similar sashes above, all with flush wedge lintels. In the attic are 2 hipped dormers, each with single C20 glazing bar casement. The right basement has a single stone mullion window. To the rear is a c1800 2 storey wing. Interior has barrel vaulted cellars and staircase with late C16 balusters, reputedly removed from tile former Hall. Home of the Cartwright family. (NCC/js)
