Description

Row of 4 cottages. Possibly former rectory, c.1800, built for William Mellish. Red brick, rendered. Hipped pantile roof with wood and lead cupola and weather vane. 2 brick gable stacks, with 2 further brick gable stacks to the outer wings. Dentillated cornice. 2 storeys, 5 bays, flanked by single lower, 2 storey, recessed wings each of 2 bays. Central casement with arched Gothic cast iron glazing bars under a flat head. Flanked by single doorways with panelled doors and overlights. that to the left has similar glazing to the windows, and further single, similar casements. Above, 5 similar casements. All openings are in relieving arches. The central 3 bays have a pediment over The central octagonal cupola is arcaded with a modillion cornice and a ribbed dome. The outer wings each have single doorways that to the left has a panelled door to the right a rendered and pantile lean-to porch with C20 door, with outer single Gothic glazing bar casements, and single similar casements above.
