Description

Farmhouse, now a house. 1878. By B. W. Godwin for Earl Cowper. Brick with plain tile roof. Chamfered plinth. 2 gable and an external side wall stacks. 2 storeys, 2 bays. L-plan with C20 additions is return angle. Windows are mainly double and triple glazing bar sashes with segmental heads. East front has central door with sloping tiled hood on brackets. Flanked by single sashes. Above, to right, gabled tile hung cross eaves dormer. South end has C20 lean-to addition with casement and door plus casement in return angle. To its right, 2 single sashes. Above, 2 sashes. Rear has to left, gabled wing with a small casement. To its right, lean-to additions, C19 and C20, with a sash and a casement. Above, a sash, and to right, a tile-hung gabled dormer. North end has 3 sashes flanking an altered casement. Above, a sash. This building is one of a number of farmhouses and cottages designed by E. W. Godwin for Earl Cowper in 1872 - 1878. (NCC/js)
