Description

Gateway. 1832. By W. Donthorn. Brick, stuccoed, with ashlar plinth and coping, cornice and parapet. Single, single bay. South east front has central round headed opening with keystone, flanked by single recessed panels. Above, stepped parapet with foliate panel and above, shell. On each side, 2 round headed recesses. Under archway, each side has a plaster panel, with cast copies of panels from the Elgin Marbles. (NCC/js)
