Description

3 cottages, now 2 cottages. Mid C17, altered late C18, partly raised mid C19, altered mid C20. Brick, with remains of timber framing in left rear wall, and steep pitched hipped and gabled pantile roofs. Large central ridge stack plus single gable and single side wall stacks. 2 storeys; 4 window range. No 28, to left, has a near-central 3-light casement flanked to left by a blocked window and to right by a Yorkshire sash. Central blocked window flanked by single plain sashes, that to right with segmental head, and beyond, single doors, that to right blocked. No 24, to right, has a segment headed plain sash. To left, close boarded door and to right, segment headed plain sash. Left end has a glazing bar sash and above, a 2-light casement. Rear has, above, 3 panels of close studding with mid rail and rendered nogging. Interior of 28 has winder stair and chamfered span beams, one of them with mortices for studs. At the east end, a stud wall with mid rail. Ground floor has remains of a large fireplace, and first floor has an early C19 hob grate. (NCC/js)
