Description

Row of 4 cottages. Late C18, refronted early C19, probably for William Mellish. Red brick and ashlar, pantile roof with 2 rendered ridge stacks; 2 storeys, 9 bays. The central 3 bays slightly project and are topped by a pediment with ashlar cornice. There is a central tall carriage arch with 3 casements either side, each with arched Gothic cast iron glazing bars. At either end are single doorways, both with similar Gothic tracerled overlights and wooden doors. No.l0 is panelled. Above are 6 similar casements. In the pediment is a C20 glazing bar casement. The windows of Archway House have recently been replaced with wooden casements following the same glazing pattern. (NCC/js)
