Description

Pigeoncote and attached stabling and granary. Late C18 and early C19. Dressed coursed rubble, some ashlar and red brick. Pantile roofs. C18 2 storey plus garret, single bay pigeoncote with, to the left, the C19 slightly lower 2 storey, 3 bay stabling and granary. Having in the granary block a doorway with stable door and ashlar lintel, to the right is a single flight of ashlar and red brick steps leading to the first floor, further right is a doorway with plank door and ashlar lintel. In the pigeoncote is a single rectangular opening. Above is a doorway with plank door and in the pigeoncote 3 rows of red brick openings for birds with 2 sets of ashlar alighting perches. In the granary block is a single slit ventilator. The rear and right gable walls of the pigeoncote are part red brick, and the gable has part blocked entrances for pigeons. (NCC/js)
