Description

House. c1775. Coursed squared rubble with ashlar front and painted stone dressings. Slate roof with coped gables and 2 brick gable stacks. Moulded eaves, gutter on brackets, projecting surrounds to windows and doors. 3 storeys plus garrets; 3-window range. Front has three 12-pane sashes on the lower floors and above, three 9-pane sashes. To left, a single-storey porch with stepped coped wall and to right, an unpainted round-arched doorway with keystone and imposts, containing a glazing bar window. To left, a plain doorway with stone lintel. Right gable has a tall central round-arched stair window with imposts and keystone, flanked on the first floor by single 12-pane sashes, Above, to right, a similar sash, and above again, an off-centre 9-pane sash. Below, to right, a 12-pane sash to the ground floor. Below the stair window, a small single-light window, and 2 cellar openings at ground level. (EH)
