Description

Manor House, mid C18 with late C18, C19 and C2 additions and alterations. Brick with plain tile and partially hipped pantile roofs; ashlar and rubble plinths, brick eaves, brick coped gables, 2 gable and various other stacks. 2 storeys with garrets, L-plan. Main house has central C20 brick porch with hipped plain tile roof, containing C20 panelled door, flanked by single C19 flat roofed bay windows with glazing bar sashes. Above, 3 glazing bar ashes with segmental heads. South wing, late C18 with hipped roof, single bay, has a single glazing bar sash on each floor, ground floor with segmental head. West gable has, above, a single glazing bar sash. Conservatory, late C19, by Messenger of Loughborough, brick plinth, 4 bays, iron and timber frame. Rear south wing, C19, brick, rendered above, has plain tile and pantile roofs, single gable stack. Above, single glazing bar sash. Extensive late C19 and early C20 additions to west. Interior has early C19 dog leg staircase with scrolled handrail to first floor; above, early C18 oak balusters and handrail. Roof has original oak timbering. (NCC/js)
