Description
House. c1660. For Philip Lacock. Remodelled and enlarged c1850 by T Hine for Mansfield Parkyns. Brick, rendered, with hipped slate roof. Ashlar dressings. Rendered plinth. 2 ridge and 2 side wall brick stacks. 3 storeys, 4 bays. Square plan. Windows are mullioned and transomed casements with Gothic glazing bars. Ground and first floor windows have hoodmoulds. South front has central chamfered round-headed doorway flanked by 2 casements. Above, 4 casements. Above again, 4 smaller casements. East end has a casement and to right, door with late C20 timber porch. Above, 3 casements, the central one smallest. Above again, a central casement. West end has to left, external stack. To right, single bay lean-to feature with slab roof and 2 flanking buttresses. Central blocked round-headed door. Above, 2 casements. Above again, 2 smaller casements. In return angle, small lean-to addition. Rear elevation has off-centre single and 2-storey additions, raised late C20. To their fight, single storey service range, mid C19, brick with slate roof, 5 bays. Above, central transomed 3-light casement with round heads, flanked by single casements. Above, 3 casements. Above again, 3 smaller casements. (NCC/js)
