Description
House. Mid C18. Brick with pantile roof with plain tile eaves. Ashlar dressings. First and second floor sill bands. Dentillated eaves. Single central ridge stack. 2 storeys plus garrets, 2 bays. Windows are C19 and C20 casements. Front has central door with segmental head, flanked by single casements. Above, 2 casements. Rear has full width C20 single storey lean-to addition. East gable has a small casement and a similar casement to garret. West gable has a garret casement. This building was the home of Louise Burrows, sometime fiancee of D. H. Lawrence. It is described in his novel 'The Rainbow'. (NCC/js)
