Description

Anglo Saxon cross. Cll. Ashlar with dressed stone base. Tapered square base with spiked iron railing, c.1820. Tapered square shaft with interlace decoration and carving of angel and serpent. Lead cap. Approx. 3M high. This cross was restored and re-sited in 1760, restored in 1820, and again re-sited in 1928. Said to be 'by far the most important pre-Conquest monuments in Notts'.
