Description

Lodge. Mid C19. Blue and red brick and ashlar. Hipped slate roof with decorative ridge tiles and single Tudor style tall brick ridge stack. Single storey plus attic, 2 bays. Set on a plinth with ashlar course over. The right bay has no openings. The slightly projecting left bay has a wooden gabled open porch set on a low brick wall with ashlar coping and slate roof with decorative ridge tiles. The inner doorway has a wooden door with plain surround. The porch is flanked by single narrow fixed lights with ashlar surrounds. The attic storey breaks into the eaves and is slightly corbelled out with ashlar at this point. The casement window with ashlar surround has 2 lights divided by a stone mullion. Under are three flush bands of blue brick. Above is a small round panel with gauged brick surround. The attic is topped by an ashlar coped gable with kneelers, having single orb finials with a further single finial on the ridge. The west front has a canted bay, a single casement with ashlar surround and a similar attic window. (NCC/js)
