Description
House, formerly 6 cottages, c.1830. Red brick and ashlar with a tiled roof and stone coped gables with kneelers. Single tall Tudor style double stack to the left gable, single rendered ridge stack and single gable stack to the cross wing. 2 storeys, 3 bays, each surmounted by a gable, the central one being smaller, plus the gable end of the cross wing. The outer window bays slightly project. Central single storey gabled brick porch corbelled out near the top with ashlar at this point, with ashlar coped gable and kneelers and ashlar entrance arch with 2 feature voussoirs. The inner doorway is arched with a C20 glazed door and overlight. Flanked by single 3-light glazing bar casements with wooden mullions and ashlar surrounds. Above are 3 similar casements and surrounds, the central one however has only 2 lights. In the apex of each of the outer gables is a single decorative arrow loop, in the centre gable is a decorative blank ashlar shield. The gable stack, which slightly projects at the top, has a similar ashlar shield. The south front of the cross wing corresponds to the main front, however all the windows have 2 lights with glazing bars, all gables are decorated with a single arrow loops and the inner porch doorway is not arched. The other fronts have C19 and C20 extensions and alterations. (NCC/js)
