Description
Stables and barns. C16, C18 and C19. Timber framed, brick, coursed and squared rubble and dressed stone. Concrete pantile roofs, steep pitched. Chamfered dressed stone plinths. Single external side wall stack. 2 storeys, 3 bays deep by 4 bays wide. U plan around courtyard. Windows are mainly C19 casements. Stable to south has on south side small casement flanked by single doors, that to left blocked. Above, to left, a casement and a hatch. To their right, a loading door and a hatch. East gable has central four centred arched blocked door, flanked by single mullioned casements, all under continuous hood mould. Above, C20 casement. Above it, pigeonholes. North side has to left, casement flanked by single doors. To right, 2 casements, and beyond, 2 doors, that to right blocked. C18 range on west side has to east off-centre casement flanked to left by 3 and to right by 2 stable doors. Above, 4 casements. Timber framed barn on north side has to south 4 bay posts with intermediate rail. To left, pair of round headed carriage doors, C19. To right, 2 pairs of C20 garage doors. Above, 2 casements. Double purlin principal rafter roof. West side has to left, weather-boarded gable. To its right, remains of adjoining building. Above to right, loading door in gable. (NCC/js)
