Description
House. Late C18. Brick with stone dressings and hipped slate roofs. Plinth, first floor band, rebated eaves, 4 ridge stacks. 3 storeys; 5 x 3 bays. L-plan. East front has a central 3-storey canted bay with 3 glazing bar sashes, flanked by single Venetian windows. Above, 3 smaller sashes flanked by single Diocletian windows. Central panelled door with overlight, flanked by single sashes and beyond, single Venetian windows. All the flanking windows have stone surrounds. South front has two 2-storey canted bay windows with dentillated cornices and glazing bar sashes, flanking central blank windows. Above, 2 small sashes flanking a central blank. Full height ground floor sashes have fanlights. In the return angle of the 2-storey rear wing, a 2-storey semicircular projection with a hipped porch attached. Interior has panelled entrance hall. Left front living room has similar panelling and doorcases with dentillated cornices. Dining room, to right front, has moulded plaster wall panels and cornice, Classical wooden fireplace and hob grate. Open well stair with panelled dado, cut string, ramped and scrolled handrail and stick balusters. Minor dogleg stair with square newels. Roof has unusual exposed cross-beam structure at the corners.
