Description

House, shop and attached workshop, c1770, with early and mid C19 additions. Altered c1960. Brick, the front colourwashed, with stone dressings and pantile roofs. Stone and rendered plinths, cogged eaves, 2 gable and single ridge stacks. Front and workshop windows have segmental heads. 3 storeys plus garrets; 3 window range. Front has plain sashes and above, smaller glazing bar sashes. Central segment headed 6-panelled door and overlight, with plain flanking columns and cornice. To right, early C19 wooden shopfront with glazed 2-leaf door and shop window with glazing bars. To left, a single plain sash. Left gable has a blocked window to garret. Mid C19 2 storey rear addition. Attached workshop, partly demolished c1960, has gabled and hipped pantile roof. 2 storeys; 6 window range. Outer windows are small-paned casements. To left, cart opening and a door flanked by single C20 casements. To right, a glazing bar sash flanked by single doors, all with segmental heads. House interior has a late C18 winder stair, altered C19, with stick balusters and octagonal newels. (NCC/js)
