Description

Kennels, built 1891 for 7th Duke of Newcastle, main block has symmetrical plan form with central 1 and a half storey block with single storey wings either side, red brick with slate roof, clay ridge tiles, stone-coped gables, stone lintels and brick arches, stone cills, timber joinery throughout including plank doors and glazing bar casement windows, dentil corbelling at eaves; central block has both sawtooth and dentil corbelling on gables and dentil corbelling on eaves, stone kneelers, south gable has datestone featuring ā€œNā€ and ā€œ1891ā€; side wings have small square ventilation openings on north side (typical of kennel buildings of this period); to south west is separate building of similar design and materials to side wings, constructed early-20th century.
