Description
Boiler house chimney. 1884. By M. O. Tarbotton for Nottingham Corporation Water Department. Brick with ashlar dressings. Square plan. Battered square base with ashlar coping. Shaft has moulded centre pilasters and corner pilasters, 2 small dentillated string courses. Dentillated main cornice. Above, on each side, a C13 style triple lancet with iron grille, round shaft and carved capital. Truncated pyramid finial with 4 corniced pinnacles with pyramid caps. Approx. 120 ft. high. This building is a detached ancillary building of Papplewick Pumping Station. This is now a working museum cared for by the Papplewick Pumping Station Trust. (NCC/js)
