Description
Boundary wall and gates. 1884. By M. O. Tarbotton for the Nottingham Corporation Water Department. Brick with moulded blue brick d.p.c, and rockfaced ashlar plinth. Moulded, corbelled top. Ramped flat ashlar coping. Curved plan with incurves to 2 pairs of gates. Approx. 220 M long. South gate has 2 moulded square piers with carved ashlar capitals and stepped pyramid caps. North gate has 4 similar piers, the central pair being larger, with capitals carved with birds. Pyramid caps with crocketed finials. Pair of scroll top cast iron gates. Pair of matching wicket gates. 4 guard irons. This building is a detached ancillary building of Papplewick Pumping Station. (NCC/js)
