Description
Watching brief on water main works at junction of the above roads and centred at above NGR (within close proximity of the Church of St Peter & St Paul). The trench was approx. 10 m x 0.8 m and between 0.7 and 1.2 m deep, and was excavated by a JCB back actor, fitted with a 0.6 m toothed bucket. The area was apparently levelled down to the natural red/brown sandstone when the road was constructed. No occupation layers, features or artefacts were recorded. (1)
