Description
A watching brief during excavation for trenches recorded nothing of archaeological significance.
Trench for water main (Severn Trent Water Ltd). 2 km long and up to 2.5 m deep. Most of topsoil stripping and part of trenching had begun before observation was undertaken. The stripped areas were examined and spoil heaps inspected for artefacts. No archaeological features or finds. NGR for SE end (near Huthwaite) of trenches examined.
