Description

When excavations resumed in 1953 it was though best to begin by examining Site 1… a grid was therefore laid out either side of the first exploratory trench (Y-Z, dug 1948-51 - see E165) and that area was excavated totally. Further excavations were made on the site already studied by the Nottingham Field Club (Site 2 - see E165) … it was not found possible to extend the cutting to the north. (1) See E165 for earlier excavations at Sites 1 and 2.
