Description

A trial trench through an earthwork hump (thought to be a Bronze Age Barrow). Work commenced on the 13th August, 1949 and a trench excavated across the tumulus on a magnetic bearing of 330 degrees. … The trench was sunk to a depth of 6ft 10in in the centre of the mound and 4ft at the edge. (1)
