Description

The method of excavation was to section the ruin in each direction and to extend these trenches to determine the limits of the site. In addition to these long trenches, cuttings were made inside and around the ruin to settle doubtful points, and additional cuts made to trace the course of the enclosure ditch; a total of over 700ft of trench was cut (see fig 2).
