Description

Further excavations were supervised by (B Wailes) in 1955 - "Site II". Unfortunately impossible to complete owing to the shortage of labour. It was laid ouit across a more prominent portion of the western side of the low bank. It was not possible to obtain the valuable stratified section across the ditch that had been hoped for. Excavation was continued over the bank and to the east of it, but only the topsoil was removed, and a certain amount of the rubble forming the bank. (1) See E272 for adjacent trench.
