Description

Second trench in this vicinity was placed parallel to castle's south wall and overlapped the earlier trench (1). A trial excavation of the site, known locally as Bell’s Yard or Cuckstool Wharf was undertaken by Trent and Peak Archaeological Trust prior to the construction of a new library. (2) See E9328 for adjacent boreholes.
