Description

In April 1856 the parish clerk struck against the edge of a tessellated pavement in ploughing here. Excavations were immediately begun under the direction of the Rev Mr Wintour. No attempt seems to have been made to investigate any other part of the field, or even to complete the excavation of this pavement. (2)
