Description

The site was investigated using hand excavated trial trenches which were then manually back filled. The location of the trenches was determined by the results of the topographical survey. Trench 4, 2m long and 1m wide was located 15m to the N of Trench 3. The location was set so that the trench was situiated at the S extremity of gypsum mine workings and adjacent to the trackway opposite the area levelled by Cubar Construction in the 1960s. No artefacts were recovered and no features were recorded in the trench. (1) NB Plan in (1) is inadequate, NGR estimated, 15m N of Trench 3. Trenches located between trackway and cliff edge. Date in excavation Index was given as 1991. (2) See E2549 for Trench 1, E129 for Trench 2, E8010 for Trench 3, E708 for Trench 5.
