Description

Topsoil magnetic susceptibility measurements were taken at c.50m intervals. One area (centered at 460670 337340) was then selected for detailed gradiometer survey. The principal areas of magnetic enhancement appear to be associated with a former quarry and removed hedgeline. Magnetic 'inversion' is present on the site [the subsoils are more magnetic than the topsoil], In the context of such a generally low and atypical magnetic response, it is probable that [magnetic surveying methods] on this site would be of only marginal use. (1) See E9052 for resistivity survey, E9053 for trenches.
