Description
The purpose of the trial trench was to locate cultural remains and hence former land surfaces beneath the alluvial cover of the site. The trench was located transverse (E-W) to the relict palaeochannel at the alluvium - sandy island interface. It was 20m long, 5m wide and 3m deep. With the exception of modern land drains, no archaeological features or artefacts were identified or recovered. (1)
